Description

Paper Alchemy’s Custom Wax Seal Stamp is a 25mm square solid brass bespoke seal designed in collaboration with our Sydney studio. It is the most personalised finishing touch available for luxury wedding stationery, corporate correspondence, gift packaging, and personal branding.

Solid Brass Die — Why Material Quality Matters in Every Impression

Our custom wax seal stamps are engraved from solid brass — not zinc alloy or resin — which produces a crisper, more defined impression and stands up to repeated use without losing detail over time. Each stamp pairs the brass die with your choice of handle: classic timber, contemporary acrylic, or a metal grip. The handle is substantial enough to hold steady through the stamping motion, which matters when you are working through a batch of 100 envelopes.

How the Custom Stamp Process Works — From Your Design to Your Desk

Paper Alchemy operates a semi-custom model for wax seal stamps: every stamp is designed with you, reviewed by a professional designer, and approved before production begins. The process is as follows:

Step 1 — Submit your brief. Share your design concept, initials, monogram, crest, or logo reference with our team via the contact page. Include any reference imagery, preferred style (classic script, modern minimal, botanical, crest-based).

Step 2 — Digital proof. One of our designers creates a digital proof of your seal design, optimised for impression quality. Highly detailed artwork and hairline strokes under 0.5mm are refined at this stage to ensure the engraved brass reproduces cleanly.

Step 3 — Your approval. You review the proof and request any adjustments. No stamp goes into production without your sign-off.

Step 4 — Production and dispatch. Once approved, your stamp is precision-engraved and assembled. Allow 5-7 days for production after approval; express turnaround may be available — enquire at the time of order.

Design Capability Guide — What Works in Wax

Not every design translates equally well to a wax seal impression. Our team will advise during the proofing stage, but as a guide: single initials, two-character monograms, and simple crests reproduce exceptionally well. Logos with thin strokes below 0.5mm, dense photographic detail, or very fine text should be simplified for the wax medium. Handwritten calligraphy-style text works beautifully when the stroke weight is sufficient to hold in the wax.

Text can be arranged in a circular format around the edge of the die, as a central inscription, or combined with a central motif. Our designers work with you to achieve the right balance of legibility and elegance within the 25mm square format.

What Can You Do With a Custom Wax Seal Stamp?

A custom stamp from Paper Alchemy is a versatile studio tool, not a single-use purchase. Couples use their stamp for wedding invitations and envelopes, engagement party correspondence, thank-you notes, and favour tags — and many return to use it for years afterwards on personal letters, gift packaging, journal sealing, and business branding.

Specific use cases include: sealing C6 euro flap envelopes and C5 euro flap envelopes, creating wax seals on ribbon-tied flat suites, adding a seal to a belly band closure, producing wax journal seals, and branding gift packaging for retail and corporate gifting.

Choosing the Right Sealing Wax for Your Stamp

Paper Alchemy stocks Australia’s largest range of sealing wax beads, available in over 40 colours across matte, metallic, shimmer, and pearlescent finishes. Our wax beads are the octagonal tablet format — pre-portioned, and compatible with a wax burner and melting spoon. Allow 4–5 beads per 25mm square seal, depending on your preferred wax spread and edge finish.

A note on compatibility: our sealing wax beads are designed for use with a wax burner and melting spoon method. They are not suitable for glue-gun style wax seal applicators. This distinction matters for achieving a clean, professional-grade impression — the spoon method allows precise pour control and the full working time needed to seat the stamp accurately.

Colours that photograph well on ivory and white envelopes include champagne gold, antique copper, blush pink, and warm ivory. For dark-stock envelopes, consider midnight black, deep burgundy, or a contrast metallic. Our team can advise on colour selection as part of the design consultation.

Technique Tips for a Clean Wax Seal Impression

Achieving a consistent, clean seal takes a small amount of practice and the right technique. Melt approximately 4–5 wax beads in your spoon over the wax burner until the wax is fully liquid with no lumps. Pour onto your envelope in a single motion, working from the centre outward. Allow 10–15 seconds for the wax to begin to set — it will lose its liquid shine — then press your stamp firmly and evenly for 5–8 seconds without rocking. Lift cleanly and allow to fully cool before handling.

A silicone mat under your envelope protects the work surface and makes the setup process cleaner. If you are batch-making seals in advance, a silicone mat allows you to peel set seals easily and apply them later using our double-sided wax seal sticker adhesive backing method.

Complete Your Kit — Wax Beads, Burner & Silicone Mat

Paper Alchemy stocks everything you need to build a complete wax sealing setup from a single Australian supplier. Browse our full accessory range to pair your custom stamp with sealing wax beads, a wax burner, a melting spoon, and a silicone mat. Our team can also advise on coordinating your seal design with your invitation suite — from matching the wax colour to your envelope liner palette to choosing a monogram style that echoes your invitation typography.

The stamp you receive has been reviewed and refined by a professional designer with well over a decade of industry experience. This is not a generic stamp-maker — it is a bespoke studio service based in Sydney, Australia, where craft and design intent are part of every decision.

What size wax seal stamp should I order?

The most popular choice for wedding invitation envelopes is 25mm, which sits elegantly on the back flap of a standard C6 or C5 euro flap envelope without overwhelming the envelope. A 30mm stamp adds more visual presence and suits larger envelopes, thick-stock seals, or couples who prefer a bolder statement. The 40mm stamp is best suited to packaging, journal seals, and applications where the seal is the centrepiece rather than an accent. If you are unsure, our team will advise based on your envelope size and design at the proofing stage.

How long does it take to receive my custom wax seal stamp?

Allow approximately 5-7 days from design approval to delivery in Australia. This timeline covers design proofing, any revisions, production, and dispatch. If you have a firm event date, we recommend initiating your stamp inquiry at least 6–8 weeks before you plan to begin sealing your envelopes, allowing time for proofing rounds and buffer before your stationery send date. Express production options may be available — please enquire at the time of ordering.

Can I use my stamp with any type of sealing wax?

Our custom brass stamp is compatible with flexible sealing wax (such as Paper Alchemy’s sealing wax beads) used via the burner and spoon method. This is the recommended approach for wedding stationery as flexible wax is mail-safe and produces a clean, consistent impression. Traditional brittle wax sticks can also be used but are more prone to cracking in transit.

Safety
Your safety is our top priority

Wax seal safety

We would like to remind you to exercise caution when creating your wax seals, as burns can easily occur when working with hot materials.

It is important to keep wax beads out of reach of children, as they pose a choking hazard.

Please note that the wax burner plate can become extremely hot during use, so it is important to handle it with care. Do not touch the plate area until it has fully cooled down.

Likewise, wax spoons can become very hot during use. To avoid injury, do not touch the heated end of the spoon while using it. Wait until it has fully cooled down before handling or cleaning it.

Thank you for taking these precautions to ensure your safety while using our products.

How to guide

Inspiration and suggestions

For some extra creative beautiful finishes:

  • Try adding gold leaf flakes to the hot wax right before you stamp it
  • Try melting more than one colour together and lightly swirl colours together with a toothpick
  • Add petals or tiny flowers after pouring the hot wax but before you stamp it
  • After creating your wax seal, you can use a metallic marker to highlight the design further
  • Add a bit of glitter or metallic powder into the melted wax before pouring
  • Add in a few tiny seed beads in different colours to the melted wax before pouring
